FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: Bobby Darin to receive Star on Las Vegas Walk of Stars
to end weekend of fan festivities. Fans of the legendary entertainer Bobby Darin will
gather in Las Vegas from Friday May 11, 2007 until Monday, May 14, 2007. Three
dinner events, complete with guest speakers and entertainment, will anchor the
festivities, which will also include a sock hop, live nationwide DJ broadcast,
and a tour of Vegas venues associated with Mr. Darin. Most events will be held at the Alexis Park Resort Hotel. Speakers and entertainers will include musicians who
worked with Bobby Darin. Local entertainers include Bill Aikins, Tommy Amato and
Robert S. Ensler. Aikins worked with Darin from 1969-1973 and served as Musical
Director until Darin’s death in 1973. Tommy Amato played drums, guitar and
harmonica in Darin’s band from 1969-73 and performed with Darin on his weekly
television show. Robert S. Ensler will perform Darin standards “Mack The
Knife” and “Lazy River”. Noted pianist and arranger Roger Kellaway toured
and recorded with Darin in 1966-67. As Musical
Director,.Kellaway’s credits included” The Shadow of Your Smile” and the
“Dr. Dolittle” LP as well as many others. Arranger Buddy Bregman, worked
with Darin on LP’s “Darin At The Copa” and “This Is Darin” as well as
conducting live performances. Both will speak and play for the event . Young
Quentin Flagg, of Argos, Indiana will entertain with upbeat Darin tunes
“Splish Splash” and “Queen Of The Hop”. Additional speakers will be
drawn from Darin’s family, friends and business associates. It is necessary to register for the Darin Lifetime Event

awarded a star on the Las Vegas Walk of Stars.
This richly deserved tribute will honor Darin for his contribution to
making Las Vegas the Entertainment Capital of the World and will acknowledge his
widely held reputation as one of the greatest entertainers of the twentieth
century. The sponsorship fee for
this star was raised entirely by fan donations. In addition to dazzling audiences with his in-person performance, Darin was a recording star great magnitude who was posthumously inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. He acted in 13 films, was nominated for an Academy Award, won a Golden Globe and scored five films. Bobby Darin is a Grammy winner who has been inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame and he was an active advocate for social justice. Darin accomplished all this in a remarkably short time, all the while battling serious ill health resulting from childhood rheumatic fever.
